This upgrade is easy to accomplish. Took about 10 minutes following the included instructions. Allows PLA printing without removing the cover.
I was having problems on the enclosed J1 getting issues with adhesion, consistency and clean prints. I bought this as replacing nozzles and prepping filament didn't work.
Absolutely night and day difference. My prints are clean 98% successful, and adhesion has been great. Install was easy but it looked like this was a planned add on based on the install. A bit disappointing as this should be an included option on the enclosed.
None the less, great addition and would recommend
Just follow the instruction provided. Increases the noise somewhat, but have not had a failed print since installation. The only think I noticed was the it was offered at a lower price. I guess it does not always pay to be an early adopter.
Snapmaker J1 Print Cooling Fan Upgrade Kit
I would have bought the J1s if had been available. J1 owners can move up. Installation was straight forward. Fan power and control pass through the small PCB inside top center rear panel. The PCB must be replaced. The connectors for the 40 pin FFC extruder (ribbon cable) are extremely delicate. The latching is totally different between my old and the new connectors. Lock tabs are on opposite sides of pins. Find an experienced electronics nerd who knows how all FFC latches operate if you are puzzled.
Big fan operates in tandem (with speed control) with built-in extruder fans. At least with this iteration of printer firmware. IMHO the small fans are adequate for top off open door printing. But to get a good flush of fresh cool air from the outside rear of the printer and out the front, the big rear fan is outstanding.
