Filament-Adaptive Thermal Management

The Top Cover expands U1’s filament compatibility across both high- and low-temperature ranges [1]. With Snapmaker Orca, each filament can be automatically matched with the appropriate circulation mode: internal circulation for heat retention or external circulation for heat exhaust. This helps adapt chamber temperature with fewer manual adjustments.

Passive Heat Retention Up to 50°C

With top cover installed, U1 can reach an internal chamber temperature of up to 50°C [2], utilizing heat radiated from the heated bed and a sealed design with internal circulation to retain warm air. This warmer, more stable environment slows rapid cooling and thermal contraction, helping reduce warping and support reliable layer bonding for high-temperature filaments such as ABS, ASA, PA, and PC. It also improves PETG print quality, as the warmer chamber makes this cooling-sensitive filament much less prone to warping.

Efficient Heat Exhaust Cooling

When printing low-temperature filaments such as PLA, TPU, and PVA, external circulation mode is enabled to actively carry heat out of the chamber. The exhaust fan draws in ambient air from the bottom and expels hot chamber air through the vent, creating a cooler chamber environment that helps prints cool more effectively and form with clean details. [3]

Three-Stage Air Filtration

The U1 Top Cover's three-stage air filtration system, available only in internal circulation mode [4], is especially useful when printing engineering filaments like ABS, ASA, PC, and PA. Featuring a G3 Pre-Filter, Coconut Shell Activated Carbon, and an H12 HEPA Filter, it helps reduce odors, VOCs, and fine particulates, creating a cleaner printing experience.

Under 50 dB in Internal Circulation Mode[5]

Designed to mitigate airborne sound, the sealed top cover helps absorb and lower operating noise from the printer. In internal circulation mode, the U1 maintains a low average noise level below 50 dB, promoting a quieter, more focused environment for home, studio, or office use.

Quick Access Without Removing the Cover

The Top Cover features a detachable magnetic front door. Open or remove it in seconds for easy routine maintenance without disturbing the rest of the setup.

Important Notes

1. For a more stable and smooth experience, please update your firmware to V1.5.2 Beta or higher.
2. The Top Cover's filtration system will automatically shut down 10 minutes after printing completes. When printing high-emission filaments (such as ABS, ASA, PC and PA), it is highly recommended to wait those 10 minutes for the air to clear before opening the door.
3. The Three-Stage Air Filtration system works in internal circulation mode. External circulation mode is used for heat dissipation only and does not pass air through the filtration system. When printing low-temperature filaments such as PLA, TPU, and PVA, if you prefer not to exhaust chamber air into the room, you can connect an external exhaust hose to route the air outdoors or to an air purifier. The Top Cover includes a reserved interface for an exhaust hose adapter near the exhaust fan. You can print the adapter model provided by Snapmaker by clicking this link to download the model file.
4. The U1 Top Cover comes with a pre-installed filter. Replacement filters for the U1 Top Cover will be available soon. Please stay tuned for our latest availability updates.

Note:
[1] High-temperature filaments, such as ABS, ASA, PC, and PA, cannot be printed at the same time as low-temperature filaments, such as PLA, TPU, and PVA. PETG can be printed together with PLA or TPU; in these cases, external circulation mode will be enabled to exhaust heat from the chamber.
[2] Data from Snapmaker Lab. At 25°C ambient temperature, and heated bed at 100°C, the chamber reaches 50°C within 30 minutes utilizing the internal circulation mode. Actual results may vary depending on environmental factors and individual device differences.
[3] Comparison images sourced from Snapmaker Laboratory. Testing was conducted under a 25°C ambient temperature with the heated bed set to 55°C, capturing results by comparing printing with the exhaust fan turned on versus turned off. Actual printing results may vary depending on environmental conditions, slicing parameters, filament status, individual hardware variances, and other factors.
[4] The Three-Stage Air Filtration system is specifically designed to operate under the internal circulation mode. Conversely, the external circulation mode is intended for heat dissipation and does not utilize the air filtration filters. For optimal air quality, it is highly recommended to operate the printer in a well-ventilated area when the external mode is active.
[5] Data from Snapmaker Lab. When equipped with the top cover and running in internal circulation mode (internal fan set to 60%), the average noise level measured at a distance of 1 meter from the printer is under 50 dB. Actual performance may vary due to ambient conditions and testing methodologies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main benefits of the U1 Top Cover?

The U1 Top Cover helps create a warmer, quieter, and cleaner printing environment. With heat radiated from the heated bed and a sealed cover design, the chamber can reach up to 50°C. It also helps maintain average operating noise under 50 dB and supports cleaner chamber air with a three-stage filtration system.

Does the U1 Top Cover require manual adjustment of the chamber temperature?

No. The Top Cover automatically switches between high- and low-temperature chamber modes for different filaments without requiring you to open the door, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free printing experience.

How does the U1 Top Cover improve air quality?

It features a three-stage air filtration system combining a G3 Pre-Filter, Coconut Shell Activated Carbon Filter, and H12 HEPA Filter. This system helps capture fine particulates such as PM2.5 and ultrafine particles, while adsorbing VOCs, odors, and harmful gases that may be generated during printing.

With the Top Cover, can I print high-temperature and low-temperature filaments at the same time?

No. High- and low-temperature filaments require different chamber temperatures, and the chamber temperature cannot change instantly. Printing filaments with different temperature requirements simultaneously is not recommended. For example, printing low-temperature filaments in a high-temperature chamber may cause the filament to soften and lead to nozzle clogs.

Is the printing experience quieter with the U1 Top Cover?

Yes. With the Top Cover installed, the average noise level is under 50 dB in Snapmaker Lab testing, measured 1 meter from the printer in internal circulation mode with the internal fan set to 60%. Actual results may vary depending on ambient conditions and testing methods.

How easy is it to access the chamber?

The magnetic front door provides easy access to the inner chamber, allowing you to operate and maintain the printer without removing the entire Top Cover.

When will the U1 Top Cover be shipped?

The U1 Top Cover is now available for pre-order.
For users in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Korea, orders placed now are expected to be delivered between November 15 and November 30, 2026.
For users in all other regions, orders placed now are expected to be delivered between October 25 and October 30, 2026.
