Frequently Asked Questions
Matte PLA Filament is suitable for detailed figures, decorative pieces, art prints, and concept prototypes. The soft, low-gloss surface reduces the visibility of layer lines and delivers a more uniform finish for appearance-driven prints.
| Item | Matte PLA | Basic PLA |
| Surface appearance | Soft, low-gloss matte finish | Conventional PLA finish |
| Color range | Available in 23 colors | Available in black and white |
| Typical use | Decorative models, detailed figures, and appearance-focused prints | General-purpose 3D printing |
Snapmaker Matte PLA Filament works with a wide range of FDM 3D printers, including Snapmaker U1, Artisan, Snapmaker 2.0, J1/J1s, and Snapmaker Original. Its RFID information is recognized automatically by the U1, so the filament details do not need to be entered manually. Other compatible printers can print the material using the recommended settings.
Use the following values as an initial reference for a 0.4 mm nozzle. Fine-tune them for the printer, nozzle diameter, model, and printing environment.
| Parameter | Recommendation |
| Nozzle Temperature | 190–230 °C |
| Build Plate Temperature | 25–60 °C |
| Print Speed | 190–300 mm/s |
| Build Surface Treatment | Apply glue when needed |
| Drying Setting | 55° C for 6h |
Not always. Drying is recommended if the filament has been exposed to humidity or shows signs of moisture, such as increased stringing, bubbles, popping sounds, uneven extrusion, or reduced layer adhesion.
• Recommended drying condition: 55 °C for 6 hours.
• Storage: After use, keep the spool with desiccant in a sealed bag or airtight container in a cool, dry place.
Snapmaker Matte PLA generally extrudes consistently under the recommended printing conditions. If stringing or clogging occurs:
• Check that the filament is dry and the nozzle is clean.
• Reduce the nozzle temperature slightly within the recommended range.
• Adjust retraction gradually.
• If the issue continues, inspect the nozzle for residue or wear before printing again.
