Impressive...

For a little context, on the metal tag, I engraved on one side the name and birthdate of all my 4 kids, and on the other side, it's the Champs Elysees. That's where I met my wife and we get married on the 15th of July 2000. The 3d picture is engraving on an ABS Enclosure (model Schneider Electric Thalassa). That's for IoT hobby work.

For the moment I'm pretty much satisfied with this new laser. Beside the metal tag I've engraved with a custom picture, I've engraved an ABS industrial enclosure. The result is great... Even I'll try some other settings to get more contrast.

| wanted to engrave on Polypropyiene ids that l sell, and itworked great. l previously etched adesign in with the 1.6 w aser but the 1064nm infrared modifes the plastic to give it a beige colored finish that will stand out better. This will help me sell morecustom products.

Opened up a lot of possibilities.

Really loving this new laser. The possibilities of what I can make is expanded greatly compared to the previous lasers. My only hope is that Snapmaker has a fiber laser in the works so we can actually cut and emboss metals too.

2W infrared laser

Loving Snappies, black acrylic with standard settings from Luban using the 2W infrared laser. Looks good in my opinion. He is also my grandchild. 😊

2w Infrared on Ray

I’ve only lightly tested some plastics but I plan to do further testing on a variety of plastics, rubbers and coated ceramics. The main purpose I needed the IR was for metals but I plan to get the most out of the IR.

2w Infrared on Ray

The first experience with plastic is it will require knowing the type of plastic and creating a chart to know the power, interval and speed settings for each type. Some plastics easily change white making a great contrast while others will not change color at all. I suspect a change in power level might resolve this but until I get the time to do this testing I can only speculate.
